Life Insurance

It is acknowledged that the majority of women with Turner Syndrome will have normal, healthy lives. However, obtaining life insurance can be challenging for some individuals due to their condition.

We strive to secure the most suitable life insurance policy for our Turner Syndrome customers, providing them with financial stability and peace of mind. Additionally, we make it easier for you.

In order to determine the best policy for you, we will need information on various factors.

  • Is your heart impacted by your condition?
  • Is there an impact of Turner Syndrome on your kidneys?
  • How is your overall health on a typical day?
  • What kind of medication or treatment are you getting?

Individuals with Turner Syndrome who experience minimal impacts on their everyday health are more likely to qualify for a standard terms life insurance policy. Certain applications might need a report from your GP, which will be covered by the insurer, not you.

If your condition affects your daily health, your application may be sent to the Chief Medical Officer for evaluation. We are here to help you navigate the process. You might need to consider non-traditional rates (which could be higher).

Individuals with severe symptoms of Turner Syndrome may face application rejections from insurers on the standard market.

Critical Illness

Similar to life insurance applications, applications for critical illness cover will also require details about your daily health and how Turner Syndrome affects it. If symptoms are mild, critical illness coverage could be offered at regular rates.

Insurers often request a GP report for a complete understanding of your health. Similar to how life insurance applications work, a Chief Medical Officer review might be required. In the case that your symptoms affect your heart or kidney, the insurer may provide critical illness cover with special terms or reject your application based on standard market guidelines.

Income Protection

Similar to other types of policies, applications for income protection will probably need a report from a GP. One key aspect to consider here, aside from your daily health and medication, is how Turner Syndrome affects your work attendance. The insurer needs to know the amount of time you’ve taken off work due to the condition.

Individuals with Turner Syndrome who are able to work without any issues may qualify for an Income Protection Policy under typical conditions. A Chief Medical Officer will review your application if your condition significantly affects your health or daily life. After reviewing all reports and assessments, an insurer will accept your application at normal terms, non-standard terms, or decline your application.

If Income Protection isn’t the right fit for you, Accident, Sickness, and Unemployment Cover might be a better option. This policy offers a monthly income replacement for 12 to 24 months in case you are unable to work due to long term injury, disability, or voluntary redundancy.

Medical underwriting is not necessary for Income Protection Cover applications. In simpler terms, having Turner Syndrome will not affect the terms offered to you. Simplifying the application process is great, but it’s important to note that claims related to pre-existing medical conditions are not covered on the policy.
